The West Virginia University Student Media Coalition is a collaborative hub for student organizations, who are all very successful on their own but often compete for resources, membership and events.
However, that’s not the point of student organizations. We aim to emphasize collaboration over competition, while strategizing creativity, elevating the voice of each student organization and showing the power in numbers when it comes to student’s work outside of the classroom.
Who We Are
Pat Orsagos, General Manager
Patrick Orsagos is a senior journalism major from Cleveland, Ohio. His dream career is to work as a multimedia journalist for The New York Times or Nation Public Radio. He’s excited to take on the role as general manager for the coalition because it will “provide him the opportunity to unite student organizations and showcase the diverse talent in our college.”
Maura Flynn, Development Manager
Maura Flynn is a senior journalism and leadership studies student at WVU. As a Cleveland, Ohio, native, she was introduced to social justice and advocacy initiatives, focusing that interest into her undergrad career– merging advocacy, operations management and storytelling into one degree. Flynn’s work centers closely around women’s mass incarceration, the opioid epidemic, the history of segregation in the Mountain State and women’s equality. In the past, she has interned as an operations manager with ESPN College GameDay, a research and news intern with WVUToday and as the coordinator for WVU’s Public Interest Communication Research Lab. She currently works in marketing and communications with the WVU Reed College of Media. Flynn has formerly served as the president of Her Campus at WVU and will graduate as a member of the Milan Puskar Leadership Scholars program in May.
